Itinerary
Day 1 – Arrive at any time in Entebbe/Kampala
If you fly, you will arrive at Entebbe International Airport, where we will be ready to pick you up and bring you to your first hotel. If you come by bus or have been in Uganda already, we can pick you up at the bus park in Kampala.
Day 2 – Drive to Fort Portal, the Tourism City of Uganda
After a well-rested night in Entebbe, we will drive together to Fort Portal in Western Uganda. The surroundings of Fort Portal really have earned the word stunning. Stop for lunch on the way from Kampala and in the evening, you can try one of the many bars and restaurants in our Tourism City.
Day 3 – Kibale Forest
Kibale has the highest density of chimpanzees and other primates in the whole of East Africa. Visit them and watch them play, groom and live their family life in the depths of the jungle. The park rangers tracking the primates with you are trained by the Ugandan Wildlife Authority and come from the local communities surrounding the forest. All profits from Chimp Tracking go immediately towards schools and training centres. After the tracking you will be in for a treat: local lunch at Tinka’s Homestead.
Day 4 and 5 – Queen Elizabeth National Park
We will be leaving Fort Portal for a couple of days, driving south past Kasese to Queen Elizabeth National Park. Here we will stay for one night in the park, looking for elephants, lions and hippos. During two game drives and one boat ride you will most certainly see as much wildlife as you can wish for. And if not, you will get another chance a bit later in our trip 😉
Day 6 – Kasese
We are back at home and we are craving to show you the most beautiful sights. Come with us on a tour to the Queen Crater Lakes and see the Rwenzori mountains and the Great Rift Valley, which stretches from Mozambique throughout East Africa to Jordan. In the evening we welcome you to our Home stay , where we will have an official Birth rank/ Birth order naming or Child naming ceremony. In traditional clothing with dance and music you will be given your own Birth order name, which will make you part of our culture here in Rwenzururu Kingdom.
Optional: After the Birth order naming ceremony you can come with us on a night out in Kasese.
Day 7 – Fort Portal
This day is for your own enjoyment. Have a lie in and then explore Fort Portal. If you would like to, you can visit a church Mass on Sunday or spend the afternoon with local entertainment.
Opt for tours discovering the Kasenda Crater Lakes, hiking in the Rwenzori mountains or spend the day at Kyaninga Lodge with swimming and kayaking. We will inform you about more activities during our trip and if you have special requests or ideas, let us know and we will do our best to make them happen.
Day 8 and 9 – Murchison Falls National Park
This is your chance to see even more wildlife. Through the Great Rift Valley, you will drive towards Murchison Falls National Park. Here you will stay again one night in the park. Join two game drives, one boat ride and a short hike up the Falls from where you can see the park from above and witness the source of the Nile.
In the evening of day 9, you will drive towards Kampala, where you will spend your last night on that tour.
